What if my child is missing a permanent tooth?

Missing permanent teeth is a common issue we see in the orthodontist office. The most common adult teeth to be missing are the wisdom teeth (yes, some lucky people don’t have them!), then the upper side front teeth (lateral incisors), then the lower second premolars. You can be missing the tooth only on one side or on both sides, sometimes both top AND bottom and occasionally if the tooth is missing on one side the matching tooth on the other may have an unusual shape.

More than most topics in orthodontics, missing teeth are something that we need to see YOU & your specific teeth to discuss. Depending on your crowding, your bite, your age, how strong the baby tooth is or if it’s already fallen out, there are many different choices and timing options that might be appropriate.

If your dentist has told you that you or your child have a missing tooth, give us a call today at (707) 938 – 5255 for a comprehensive exam to discuss what options will be best for you!
